          Desogestrel 150 mcg, ethinylestradiol 20 mcg

Indications:

          Oral contraception.

 

 

 

Contraindications:

 

          Presence or history of venous or arterial thrombotic/thromboembolic events; CVA; prodomi of a thrombosis; migraine w/ focal neurological symptoms; liver tumor (benign or malignant); DM w/ vascular involvement; severe or multiple risk factor for venous or arterial thrombosis, pancreatitis associated w/ severe hypertriglyceridaemia; severe HTN; severe hepatic disease, cholestatic jaundice, Rotor syndrome, Dubin-Johnson syndrome; known or suspected sex steroid-influenced malignancies; undiagnosed vag bleeding; porphyria; hyperlipoproteinaemia; severe pruritus or herpes gestationis. Pregnancy.

Special Precautions:

          History of venous or arterial thromboembolism, obesity (BMI >30 kg/m2), dyslipoproteinaemia, migraine, valvular heart disease, artrial fibrillation, prolonged immobilization, major surgery, any surgery to the legs or major trauma. Avoid exposure to sun if there is a tendency to chloasma. Latent or overt cardiac failure, renal dysfunction, HTN, epilepsy or migraine, sickle cell haemoglobinopathy, estrogen-sensitive gynaecological disorders. Lactation.

Dosage:

         1 tab daily starting on the 1st day of menstruation w/o interruption for 21 days, then 7 tab-free days.
