Indications:
Enteric-coated
tab/SR tab/IM inj/Supp Inflammatory & degenerative forms of rheumatism.
Post-traumatic & post-op pain, inflammation & swelling. Enteric-coated
tab/IM inj/Supp Acute gout. Enteric-coated tab/SR tab/Supp Painful &/or
inflammatory conditions in gynaecology. Enteric-coated tab/Supp Adjuvant in
severe painful inflammatory infections of the ENT. Juvenile RA. IM inj/Supp
Migraine attacks. IM inj Renal & biliary colic. IV infusion Treatment or
prevention of post-op pain in a hospital setting.
Contraindications:
Active gastric or intestinal ulcer, bleeding or
perforation. Severe hepatic, renal & cardiac failure. Patients in
whom attacks of asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis are precipitated by
acetylsalicylic acid &/or other drugs w/ prostaglandin synthetase
inhibitory activity. Treatment of peri-op pain in setting of coronary
artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Pregnancy (last trimester) &
lactation. Inj Hypersensitivity to Na metabisulphite. Supp Proctitis.
Special Precautions:
May mask the signs & symptoms of
infections or temporarily inhibit platelet aggregation. Concomitant use
w/ systemic NSAIDs & selective COX-2 inhibitors. Symptoms of GI
disorders or w/ history of gastric or intestinal ulceration, bleeding or
perforation. Ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. Preexisting asthma,
hepatic porphyria, haemostasis defects. Impaired hepatic, renal &
cardiac function, history of HTN, substantial extracellular vol
depletion. Monitor hepatic & renal function, & blood counts (in
prolonged treatment). May impair female fertility & ability to drive
or operate machinery. Pregnancy (1st 2 trimesters). Elderly. Enteric-coated tab Rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, severe lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. SR tab Rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency. SR tab/Inj Not suitable for childn & adolescents. Inj Do not administer for >2 days or as IV bolus inj.
Dosage:
Enteric-coated
tab Adult Initially 100-150 mg daily. Mild/long-term therapy 75-100 mg daily.
Total daily dose should be in 2-3 divided doses. Primary dysmenorrhoea 50-150
mg. Max: 200 mg/day. Adolescent/childn ≥1 yr 0.5-2 mg/kg body wt/day in 2-3
divided doses. Juvenille RA Up to 3 mg/kg body wt/day in divided doses. SR tab
Adult Initially 100-150 mg daily. Mild/long-term therapy 75-100 mg daily. Take
in the evening when symptoms are more pronounced in the morning/evening. IM inj
Adult One 75-mg amp daily via deep intragluteal inj into the upper quadrant.
Severe cases (eg colic) May increase dose to two 75-mg amp w/ a few hr interval
or one 75-mg amp may be combined w/ other dosage forms (eg tab, supp) up to a
max of 150 mg daily. Migraine attacks One 75-mg amp followed by 100-mg supp if
required. Max: 175 mg daily on the 1st day. IV infusion Moderate to severe
post-op pain 75 mg infused continuously over 30 min-2 hr. Max: 150 mg/24 hr.
Prevention of post-op pain Loading dose: 25-50 mg infused after surgery over 15
min-1 hr followed by continuous infusion of 5 mg hrly. Max: 150 mg daily. Supp

morning stiffness Up to a max of 150 mg. Primary dysmenorrhoea 50-150 mg. Max:
