Indications : LEVITRA is use in some case:
- Treatment of erectile dysfunction
Contrainindications:
-
Co-administration w/ nitrates or nitric oxide
donors. Severe hepatic impairment, end-stage renal disease requiring
dialysis, hypotension, recent history of stroke or MI, unstable angina
& known hereditary degenerative retinal disorders eg retinitis
pigmentosa. Men w/ CV disorders for whom sexual activity is inadvisable.
Concomitant use of vardenafil w/ potent CYP3A4 inhibitors [ritonavir,
indinavir, ketoconazole & itraconazole (oral form)] in men >75
yr. Women, childn ≤16 yr.
Adverse Drug Reactions : Headache, flushing including hot flush, feeling
hot, erythema. Dyspepsia, nausea, dizziness, nasal congestion including
mucosal edema, rhinitis, rhinorrhea. Transient vision loss &
non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy. Sudden deafness or loss of
hearing.
Dosage:
-
Adult 10 mg approx 25-60 min
before sexual activity. Max: 20 mg once daily. A max dose of 5 mg should
not be exceeded when used in combination w/ erythromycin or
clarithromycin. Elderly >65 yr Starting dose: 5 mg.

10 mg use before sexual active. On time a day, max 20mg.Need sexual for usual condition .Elder/hepatic insufficient overage start with 5 mg; can increase 10 mg, 20 mg can follow BS.
Patients w/ left ventricular outflow
obstruction. QT prolongation. Patients w/ anatomical deformation of the
penis or w/ conditions which may predispose them to priapism;
uncontrolled HTN, patients who have suffered life-threatening
arrhythmias w/in the last 6 mth or w/ a history of cardiac failure or
coronary artery disease causing unstable angina. Combination w/ other
treatments (eg α-blocker therapy) for erectile dysfunction. Bleeding
disorders or active peptic ulceration. Patients w/ spinal cord injury or
other CNS disease, hypoactive sexual desire & in patients who have
undergone pelvic surgery, pelvic trauma or radiotherapy. May impair
ability to drive or operate machinery.
