Indications:

          Additional therapy in association with diet in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Contraindications:

          Patients <18 yr, chronic intestinal disorders associated w/ distinct disturbances of digestion & absorption, conditions which may deteriorate as a result of increased intestinal gas formation. Severe renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.

Special Precautions:

          Asymptomatic liver enzyme elevations.

Dosage:

          Initially one 50 mg tab tds up to two 50 mg tab tds or ½ 100 mg tab tds up to one 100 mg tab tds. Dose may be increased after 4-8 wk if necessary. Average dose: 300 mg/day.
