Indications:

          Tab/Drops Short-term treatment of post-traumatic & post-op pain, inflammation & swelling due to sprains, post-dental or orthopaedic surgery. Adjuvant in severe, painful inflammatory infections of the ENT eg pharyngotonsillitis, otitis. Tab Painful &/or inflammatory conditions in gynaecology eg primary dysmenorrhoea or adnexitis. Migraine attacks, painful syndromes of the vertebral column, non-articular rheumatism. Drops Juvenile RA.

Contraindications:

          Gastric & intestinal ulcer, bleeding or perforation. Severe hepatic, renal & cardiac failure. Asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis attacks precipitated by acetylsalicylic acid or NSAIDs. Pregnancy (last trimester) & lactation.

Special Precautions:

          May mask the signs & symptoms of infections or temporarily inhibit platelet aggregation. Asthma, seasonal allergic rhinitis, swelling of the nasal mucosa (ie nasal polyps), COPDs or chronic resp tract infections, skin reactions, pruritus, or urticaria. Symptoms of GI disorders or history of gastric or intestinal ulceration, bleeding or perforation; ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease; hepatic porphyria; impaired hepatic, cardiac or renal function; history of HTN; substantial extracellular vol depletion pre- or post-op; patients w/ defects of haemostasis. Periodic monitoring of renal & hepatic function & blood counts are recommended during prolonged treatment. May impair female fertility & ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy (first 2 trimesters). Not established for migraine attacks in childn & adolescents. Elderly. Tab Rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency. Childn & adolescents <14 yr. Drops Childn <1 yr

Dosage:

          Tab Adult Initially 100-150 mg/day. Milder cases 75-100 mg/day. Total daily dose should be in 2-3 divided doses. Primary dysmenorrhoea 50-150 mg daily. Max: 200 mg/day. Migraine Initially 50 mg taken at the 1st signs of impending attack. Another 50 mg may be taken 2 hr after 1st dose. If needed, 50 mg may be taken 4-6 hrly. Max: 200 mg/day. Adolescent ≥14 yr 75-100 mg/day in 2-3 divided doses. Drops Adult Initially 100-150 mg daily. Milder cases 75-100 mg daily. Total daily dose should be in 2-3 divided doses. Childn ≥1 yr/adolescent 0.5-2 mg/kg/day (1-4 drops) in 2-3 divided doses. Juvenile RA Max: 3 mg/kg daily in divided doses.
