Indications:

          Treatment & control of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men w/ an enlarged prostate to improve symptoms & reduce prostate size, risk of acute urinary retention & need for BPH-related surgery.

Contraindications:

          Severe hepatic impairment. 5-α reductase inhibitors. Pregnancy & lactation. Women, childn & adolescents.

Special Precautions:

          Perform digital rectal exams & other evaluations for prostate cancer before starting therapy & periodically thereafter. Avoid contact w/ leaking caps. Mild to moderate hepatic impairment. Decrease in serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels by approx 50% after 6 mth in patients w/ BPH, even in the presence of prostate cancer.

Dosage:

          Adult (including elderly) 0.5 mg once daily.
