          Cetirizine diHCl.

Indications:

          Symptomatic treatment of seasonal & perennial allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, as well as pruritis & urticaria of allergic origin.

Contraindications:

          Hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives, severe renal impairment (CrCl <10 mL/min). Rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Fructose intolerance (soln only). Pregnancy (1st trimester) & lactation.

Special Precautions:

          Alcohol consumption. Epileptic patients & those at risk of convulsions. Allergic reactions may occur due to methyl parahydroxybenzoate & propyl parahydroxybenzoate content of oral drops & soln. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy. Childn <6 yr (FC tab), <2 yr (oral soln), <1 yr (oral drops).

Dosage:

          Adult & childn >6 yr 10 mg once daily (1 tab, 20 drops or 10 mL oral soln). Starting dose: 5 mg (½ tab, 10 drops or 5 mL oral soln). Childn 1-6 yr 2.5 mg bd (5 drops or 2.5 mL oral soln bd). Patients w/ renal impairment CrCl ≥80, 50-79 mL/min 10 mg once daily; 30-49 mL/min 5 mg once daily; <30 mL/min 5 mg once every 2 days.
